Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.
Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave
and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. —Philippians 2:3-11, NLT
God, it is such a challenge to adopt the perspective and attitude of Christ. I often do want to think of myself as better than others. I do sometimes try to impress others. I do, at times, focus mostly on my own interests. Thank you for giving us such a vivid example, Jesus, of how you want us to live. You taught us by your very own experience how to think of others and ourselves. In addition to all of that, you did it perfectly. You will come again one day. I pray that I will bow my knee and confess you today… for everyone will do so one day. Lord come quickly! Amen!
Which of the expressed attitudes in this passage is the biggest challenge for you? Pray about meeting that challenge today.

This is one of my favorite and most convicting passages. Our Pastor put it this way-It’s not that we think less of ourselves, but that we think of ourselves less. (And others more!). Thanks John for this passage, prayer, prompt, picture!
