Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:4-7, ESV
Lord, in this passage, you command us twice to rejoice in you always. It’s easy to praise you when all is going well. Help me to rejoice in you when I feel no joy and things feel out of control and hopeless. I know that you are good and that you are at hand. You love to dwell with us. Help me to find joy in that. Help me to rejoice in you and your wonderful works we see in your creation. Remind me of your faithfulness in past trials. When I am anxious about the day’s troubles or the future, remind me that I can turn to you and bring those things to you in prayer. Your yoke is easy and your burdens are light. Help me to bring my requests to you with a thankful heart. Help me to trust that you are sovereign and Lord over all. Give me your peace, Lord. Give me the peace that passes all understanding. And that my mind and heart may be guarded against all the invasive thoughts and troubles that threaten to overcome me when times are difficult. Thank you, Lord, for your presence and your faithfulness. Thank you for your peace. Thank you that you dwell with us and are a faithful Father to us . Thank you for the gift of your Son, our fellow Heir. In his precious name we pray. Amen.

Yes, this is perfect. I’ve been through a rough few days and this post is so encouraging. I can rejoice even when things look bleak, because I know He has me in His hands. He is my reason to rejoice! Thank you Rosemary!
